Wet Felted Purse

Front and open purse.

Back and open purse.

Mistake - Didn't mean to have two of these.

Finished Wet Felted Purse. Finished size is 5" wide by 4" tall as shown here.

Today being Mother's Day gave me the opportunity to do just as I pleased. After a wonderful lunch out with my two daughters and a really good time, I came home and had the rest of the day to play. I have been wanting to make this purse ever since I received one from a friend of mine who purchased it for me in Christchurch New Zealand. The one I received was a shade of turquoise blue and I just love it. Since I took a class in wet felting I decided I could do this too.

I completely made the felt by using some Roving I purchased at Trumpet Hill in Colonie, New York. Then of course I added my own laces and felted some flowers into the fabric and hand stitched some French Knots to hold some of the lace down and then did the blanket stitch around the outside and added a vintage button. So much fun. I think I might continue to make more. It definately took me the most part of the day to do the whole thing but I enjoyed every minute.

The true color is actually the color in the last photo of the finished purse. I don't know why I cannot get the same color in all the photos, but that is my poor photography skills at work.

Hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day and your children let you know how much they appreciate you.

  2. What a sweet little purse you have created. I love the additions of lace, french knots and button. These would make such fabulous gifts too. I think it would be fun to make one in every color possible. Happy wet felting...
